Taiwanese Study Culture

Taiwanese students need to go to school for 12 years, elementary, junior high school, senior high school. The government set a law to let everyone study. You can choose a private school or public school. When you are in the age of senior high, you can choose to go to vocational school or normal senior high school. A vocational school, sometimes also called a trade school, career center, or vocational college is a type of educational institution, which, depending on the country, may refer to secondary or post-secondary education designed to provide vocational education, or technical skills required to perform the tasks of a particular and specific job.

Taiwanese students spend too much time on doing homework and studying. For me, I stay at school about 12-13 hours per day. We don't have much time to rest. And when we go home, we spend two or more hours doing homework and studying for tomorrow's tests. It's bad for our health because we go to bed around twelve and wake up at six or seven. We sleep about six to seven hours per day. At our age, kids from other countries sleep more than seven hours. Even if they sleep for only seven hours, it's because they are relaxing and having fun.

Taiwanese students study so much because we are scared of getting a bad grade. We get punished if we get bad grades, parents and teachers will be angry at us, they will take away or phones, give us more stress. Some parents will hit their child, etc. I think parents and teachers give us too much stress, this cause students lying about their score. Some students cry because they get bad grades, they feel stressful and unhappy.

I really hope Taiwanese students can have more time relaxing than studying. I'm not saying that studying is bad, but we study too much. We are too tired, we need to get some rest. I think Taiwanese study too much because when I ask my aunt, who lives in the US, about education in the US. She told me kids in the US won't really spend too much time on studying unless you are in senior high school or you are in university. The kids that are always studying are usually Asians, especially Chinese and Taiwanese.
I think there is a solution to this problem, maybe schools should hold more activities to go outside. We can go ride bikes, swimming, mount climbing etc. The solution may not be perfect, because we still need to learn and study, otherwise we can't pass the test or we won't be smart enough to solve problems in the future.
